[mike here] I'm guessing piercing arts should say "proficiency with a piercing weapon"? I like the piercing ignore some AC. The Bludgeon15 seems underwhelming compared to Pierce15, and especially Slash15; moreso if you're piling on the swift actions into the Fighter progression. The Bludgeon guy gets to do his once a round, but the Slash and Pierce guys can do theirs four times or more... Increasing the crit range by one (say from 20 to 19-20) is mathematically the same as increasing the crit multiplier by one (say from x2 to x3), as long as the base damage die is the same. Well, there is a slight difference in favor of the multiplier, when AC is so high you only hit on a twenty. By and large though, they are identical in terms of expected damage. |
