SouthernCampaignCharactersPart 1: A Scent of Blue RosesPart 2: Mark of the WolvesPart 3: The Dirge of KingsThe CastBoris Amash (Albert) Boris AmashIllusionist 3 (Gnome Illusionist 1)\Master Specialist 1 During the war, one of the most feared pirates on the sea was Leonid Amash of the Blue Shark Amash. The navies of Katun spent the better part of 50 years trying to capture or kill the gnomish captain, but he and his flotilla escaped countless fleets and traps with gnomish magic and superior maneuverability. Leonid was critical to maintaining the Amashi war effort - his ships worked for decades to cut off Katunian supply lines and smuggle needed supplies and manpower in from the mainland. When Amash was defeated in the Menasi Revolt, many captains in the Katunian navy called for Leonid's execution, but after spending the better part of a century amassing wealth and influence, Leonid easily secured a pardon. His warfleet became a merchant fleet, and he has become one of the most powerful merchants in the islands. His son, who spent some time sailing with his father toward the end of the war, is well known among the former pirates as the "young master", and they are glad to see that he will not have to follow his father's path. At Leonid's suggestion, Windric Amash sponsored Boris' attendance at the Ristani academy. Boris has taken to his political lessons well, and has used his knowledge of the law in the past to free some of his father's imprisoned crew members, earning him the enmity of many Katunian allies. He is relentless in his goals and doesn't necessarily care who needs to be stepped on in the interests of his countrymen. A childhood friend of the younger Anatole, he is a living testament to the Amashi ideal - resourceful, intelligent, cosmopolitan, and comfortable in any environment. Lia LiadonElf Rogue 2/Swashbuckler 2 Just before the War of the Sea Kings began 100 years ago, the elven advisors of minor house Liadon knew that it would be battered and crushed by the winds of war. The two elves loyal to Liadon had an infant daughter who they did not wish to expose to decades of war, and they sent a single ship to shore with the young nobles of Liadon and their own daughter, Lia. She grew up in the care of King Tristan Ferren's weapon master and advisor Nerissa Derisan, and her aptitude for the blade was clear. For nearly a century, she has trained in the ways of the blade under Nersisa, and has in turn been a frequent dueling partner and friend to both King Taliesin and King Anatole. Leaving the business of succession and diplomacy to his older brother, Alastair sought his fortune in Taliesin Ferren's service. There, Viscount Rutherford, the old spymaster, recognized some talent in the young man and taught him the ways of subterfuge and deception. Alastair served well in the Inheritor's War, providing critical information before several battles, and was rewarded with the care of the king's son. Alastair is a fairly nondescript man in his early thirties, with plain brown hair and brown eyes providing a stark contrast to his strikingly handsome older brother, the Viscount Barris Cadmian. Shaversar, a young raptoran from one of the northern tribes, also attended the Ristani Academy occasionally, though he preferred to spend much of his time in The Wilds learning the ways of his people, rather than learning the cultured and urbane ways of Amash and Ferren.
