Heroic items: With an extremely low number of mid- and high-level casters in the world of Ferren relative to other game worlds, magic items work a bit differently. Weapons and arms become imbued with magic by the heroic deeds of their wielders, and since I'm handwaving money (you're being funded by a king, money should never be an issue), there is an alternate system for enchanting your gear. As you defeat enemies and loot from them, you can trade in their gear (or, in some cases, their heads) for a certain gold value in Trophy Points. These Trophy Points aren't actually money - but they can be cashed in at any time for an enchant of equivalent value. So for example, you can spend 16,000 Trophy Points to turn your boots into Winged Boots.

More skills: Skills are more important in the Ferren campaign - Bluff, Diplomacy, Sense Motive, Knowledge (nobility), Knowledge (history) and Forgery play big roles, and then come the regular skills like Spot, Search, Listen, Knowledge (nature) and Survival... skills need a boost to keep up. All 2+ classes are now 4+ classes. Anything that was already 4+ and 6+ and 8+ remains unchanged.

No cross-class cap: Isn't paying double skill points penalty enough?

Three knowledges are in-class for everyone: Nobility/Royalty, Local, and History.

Two favored classes per non-human race: Because it just makes sense. And it gives a way to add non-core classes to the game somewhat smoothly.

No Monks!: This is a Western medieval fantasy - there is no militant unarmed tradition, and monks are just out of flavor. Similarly, Shugenja, Wu Jen, Samurai, all that shit just doesn't fit in. If you want a mighty wuxia-style warrior, well, you have the Tome of Battle to play with once I actually have read it and understand it.

Fractional BAB, Fractional Saves: From the Unearthed Arcana books. Due to the design aspects of certain NPCs, this is necessary to keep multi-classers from being absolute weaklings. Half-BAB classes get .5 BAB per level, 3/4 get .75 per level, and you round down. So technically, a 3/4 BAB class like cleric has 1.5 BAB at level 2, which ends up being 1 for all game purposes.
